Editorial methodology
How we compare car-rental options in Spain
Our goal is not to rank every rental company with a single score. Instead, we separate the parts of a rental that can materially change the traveller’s experience: pickup location, payment card, security deposit, fuel policy, vehicle restrictions and the final partner booking terms.
- 1. Start with primary sources
Airport presence is checked against airport-operator information such as Aena. Card, deposit and rental rules are checked against the rental company’s published terms or help centre where possible.
- 2. Separate facts from interpretation
We distinguish “this company has a desk in Terminal 1” from editorial advice such as “terminal pickup may save time”.
- 3. Check the exact booking variables
Payment rules can vary by country, station, vehicle group, tariff and coverage. We avoid presenting a general rule as a guarantee for every booking.
- 4. Never invent live prices
If we do not have authorised live availability or an API, we use “check prices” or “view deal” rather than publishing a fabricated current price.
- 5. Keep affiliate links separate
Affiliate links are labelled and use sponsored attributes. A commission relationship does not replace our source checks.
- 6. Re-review pages
High-intent guides are periodically reviewed, and the visible “last reviewed” date is updated when the content itself has been checked.
What we compare
Terminal desk, car park, shuttle or off-airport location.
Credit/debit-card requirements, physical card and driver-name rules.
Security hold or charge, where the provider publishes it.
Fuel, mileage, vehicle category, age and coverage conditions.
Sources and uncertainty
Where an official source conflicts with a generic marketing page, we prefer the more specific rental terms for the relevant country or station. If a condition remains unclear, we say that it must be confirmed rather than converting uncertainty into a hard claim.
Our current affiliate integration
Centauro Spain is currently an approved affiliate partner through CJ. Partner links are tracked for attribution, but editorial pages may also discuss providers with no commercial relationship.
