Debit card accepted does not mean no deposit

This is the most important distinction. A debit card can be accepted for the rental while the company still requires a deposit, excess or other security amount. With a debit card, that amount may reduce the money available in your bank account until it is returned.

Wiber, for example, states that it accepts physical Visa and Mastercard cards but not virtual cards, digital cards or smartphone payments. Other suppliers have their own requirements.
